Game genre : Rogue lite, Top down shooter

Engine : Unreal Engine 4

Team size : 11 (5 Game designer, 6 Game artist)

Role :         Level Designer

Context : 

This project was done during my 2nd year at Gamesup. It was our end year project. Absolution is a rogue lite highly inspired by Hades. Our group goal was to create a solid base for a bigger project, our end studies project.

My workflow 

My first task on this project was to participate to multiple brainstorms with my team to find our project identity. 

My first step during my design process on this project was to analyse level design of our main reference (Hades, Enter the gungeon and Curse of the dead god). I also read specialize roguelikes book as recommend by my teacher.

I create few rules for the procedural generation of my levels.

I use Nathanael's sketches and mix them together to create my 2D maps.

After my maps finished and approved by the rest of my team i started my blockout, using the plug in Blockout Tools.

I use the blueprint create by my tech designer (like the enemy spawner ) to script my levels.

After finishing my blockout I spend a long time doing playtest to find bug and iterate my levels.

After finishing my job in level design i started to make the Sound Design aspect of the project.
