My workflow
The first step of this project was to brainstorm with my mates to find the identity of our level. After an hour of discussion, we all agree on an island inspired by the aesthetic of Lovecraft novels. This art was one of our inspirations.
Artist : Richard Wright https://www.artstation.com/richardwright
Due to the nature of this project I have made more moodboard than usual. The first one is about architectural and urbanism references for the map, the second is for temporal reference and the last is for example of lighting and ambiances.
Before starting my blockout I have make a quick sketch of my map with photoshop.
I soon I finished my sketches I started to make my blockout in unreal engine 5.
After my blockout I focused myself on the lighting of the map. This step was important for our project because of the ambiance we wanted.
Scripting my level with the Guillaume's work like set up the clues, interactable object or enemies spawner was the next step of my work.
My last task was to playtest my level and find bugs.
